SAT INFORMATION
With the school year already started for some of you, and about to start for everyone else, I want to remind you that the most important part of becoming a desirable college baseball prospect is ACADEMIC SUCCESS! Your grades are key to this, but high SAT and ACT scores also matter – a lot! With that in mind, here are the dates for this upcoming school year’s SAT, ACT and PSAT tests.
October 9th. SAT test date. Sign up deadline is September 10th!!!
Seniors who still need a good SAT score need to sign up to take the test on THIS date. Subject tests will also be offered on this date. College application deadlines are at the end of November, generally, so if you need a higher SAT score, this is your last chance to improve it. If you’re a senior and you need test prep help, refer to the SAT/ACT bootcamp email I sent out just a bit ago.
October 10th Vipers/Kaplan college application and admissions seminar. Save the date! It’ll be at Oak Ridge HS in room B3 @ 2:30. Seating is limited to 95 attendees.
October 16th PSAT test date.
All juniors and sophomores should sign up to take the PSAT on this date. The PSAT is only offered once per school year, and this is the date. You sign up in your high school’s counseling office. You can generally sign up until about 10 days or so before the test, but don’t wait until the last minute, please.
October 23rd ACT test date. Sign up deadline is September 17th!!!
Again, for seniors this date is critical if you hope to attend a school which looks for a strong ACT score. Be sure to check which test the schools you want to gain admission to are looking for. Some look more to the SAT, while others place great emphasis on the ACT and some expect your scores from both tests. One thing, for those who are interested in one of the Service Academies (USMA-West Point, Navy-Annapolis or Air Force-Colorado Springs) I am quite sure they all want to see your ACT score, in addition to your SAT score. I’ve already seen email confirmation of this from Coach Kazlausky of Air Force, so if you’re one of the students he or Coach Kosty of Navy are talking to, get signed up for this test if you need a higher score. If you’re a senior and you need test prep help, refer to the SAT/ACT bootcamp email I sent out just a bit ago.
November 6th SAT test date.
Subject tests will also be given on this date. Registration deadline is October 8th.
December 4th SAT test date. Registration deadline is November 5th, the same deadline date as ACT test, though the tests are on consecutive weekends.
December 11th ACT test date. Registration deadline is November 5th
January 22nd SAT test date. Registration deadline is December 23rd.
February 12th ACT test date. Sign up deadline is January 7th.
This is your last chance to take the ACT before spring baseball gets going.
March 12th SAT test date. Registration deadline is February 11th. DO NOT miss this date!!!
Every junior who takes the Kaplan SAT prep class being offered through the Vipers will be prepped with this specific test date in mind.
April 9th ACT test date. Registration deadline is March 4th.
May 7th SAT test date. Registration deadline is April 8th.
This is your last chance to take the SAT before summer baseball starts.
You’d rather be on the field in summer playing in front of college coaches than having to take the SAT or ACT on a Saturday in June, so get signed up for these classes and get it done before the school year is out. Remember that you should take the SAT twice, so don’t wait until May to take it the first time. If you’re taking subject tests, be sure to start taking your tests plenty early to get them all done in time, before summer starts. NOTE: If you want to gain admission to a University of California school, in addition to others, you must take subject tests.

If any of you need assistance with this, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Don’t miss these registration deadlines. As hard as it may be to believe, we’ve had several students who did not take the SAT, but who wanted to play college baseball. Unless your idea of playing college ball is JUNIOR COLLEGE baseball, you have to take the SAT to gain admission into a 4 year university.
If you are interested in signing up for the SAT prep course I’m coordinating with Kaplan, please let me know or contact Katherine Plommer of Kaplan directly. If you’re interested in the SAT/ACT bootcamp course, let me know directly.
